As a Parkinson’s support group we provide a contact point for folk suffering with Parkinson’s, along with their carers and families. We meet on the second Saturday of each month at Ripley Leisure Centre from 2:30pm till about 4:30pm.
Our aim is to provide the opportunity for folk with Parkinson’s or newly diagnosed, to meet with others who are also experiencing the problems that come with this condition. Carers and family members who will also be finding life hard coping with supporting the sufferer are welcome as we feel they need to share with others going through the same life upheaval.
Our meeting follows the pattern of a speaker to start the meeting, for up to an hour then refreshments; when we have a raffle of prizes donated by the members present, this goes to pay for the room hire. The meeting finishes with chatting and discussion about forth coming events that the group is to be involved in. Such as our Annual Christmas Meal, outings, fund raising activities that we plan, such as the Annual Garden Party/BBQ along with our 2013 Serenaded Supper in November.
A monthly newsletter is produced and mailed to all interested parties whether they are able to attend the meetings or not and contact with our leader, at present Mike Smith, is welcome on any concerning issue they may have so we can guide them to the answer they require.
